Application Process

Who can apply to the magnet program?

  • All students living within the boundaries of L.A. Unified are eligible to apply, including English learners, special education, and gifted/talented students.

Do I have to reapply every year?

  • Students who are currently enrolled in a magnet program do not have to reapply unless they want to change schools (this includes promotion to the next school level, such as elementary school to middle school or middle school to high school). If a student remains on a waiting list then the student should reapply.

How do I apply for a magnet school?  

  • Must apply online for the Magnet program

  • Parents/guardians may contact the Choices Support Line at (213) 241-4177 or [email protected] if you have any issues with the online application process.
  • Registration is completed the year before (October/November). The announcement of acceptance will take place in the Spring, and the magnet coordinator will contact you.
  • Applicants must specify 1877902 Narbonne HS (Science/Technology/Engineering/Arts/Math) as a choice on the application.
  • The On-time Application for Choices 2026-2027 opens October 1st and the deadline is November 15th.
  • Late Application for Choices 2026-2027 opens February 2, 2026.
  • Once you have been notified and accepted to the program, you must complete a STEAM Magnet school enrollment packet and show proof of residence. Click here to determine if your residence address is within LAUSD boundaries
