Beta Magnet School

BUSINESS, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, and TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

BETA’s vision is to prepare students for a bright, fulfilling future beyond high school. Our dedicated faculty provides our 200 students with an enriching and challenging curriculum that prepares students for careers in business, entrepreneurship, and technology. Through a caring, encouraging environment, enriching activities, and opportunities outside of the classroom, our students will leave Narbonne career and college ready, with a strong foundation to take them wherever their dreams want them to go.

One could think of the BETA Magnet as Narbonne 1.5 since we are affiliated with the larger school in some ways. Clubs, activities, and athletics are combined schoolwide. Classes not offered in this Magnet are sometimes available to our students through the larger school. The bell schedule is also shared with the larger school.

Still, there are significant differences. The BETA Magnet has its own faculty, classrooms, and additional funding. We maintain smaller class sizes (30 or fewer beginning 2021-2022) which are located in one section of the school and a dedicated Magnet Office located in front of the Administration Building. This office serves as a central location to meet students' and parents' needs. Both benefit by having a consistent counselor and administrator for all four years, which promotes a greater awareness of our student's academic and emotional growth. Parents benefit by knowing precisely who to contact when they have questions, concerns, or simply need to drop something off!

TRANSPORTATION
There is a new "Opt-In" process for bus transportation for the 2024-2025 school year. Availability is limited and school bus seating will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. Magnet students and current riders will not automatically be renewed. The "Opt-in" process will be required every school year, except for students in a Special Education program with active transportation services. The District will offer transportation to all students outside a two-mile radius for secondary students. The process will begin April 10th and end May 3rd.The transportation opt-in process will continue to be available after May 3rd for accepted students from the wait/late list.

The link provided contains a step-by-step video that demonstrates how to request transportation. Clik on link: lausd.org/schoolbus

As of now, all parents must opt-in through either the parent portal or when they originally accept a magnet seat (especially for new families without PINS)

If parents have any questions, please refer them to the Family Hotline at (213) 443-1300, Transportation Services Division at (213) 580-2920, or the TFA Website with FAQs at the bottom of page.
